2010 Wimbledon: Roddick Out, Nadal Advances

Fifth seed American netter Andy Roddick became the biggest casualty on a busy Monday at Wimbledon, as he bowed out to unheralded Taiwanese Lu Yen-hsun in a five set match, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 7-6, 7-9.
Meanwhile, world No.1 and 2008 Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal of Spain closed out the action at the All England Club with an easy, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, victory against Frenchman Paul Henri Mathieu. However, Nadal is sure to encounter stiff opposition in the quarterfinals as he will face old nemesis and sixth seed Robin Soderling, a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, winner over Spanish ninth seed David Ferrer.
Lu, on the other hand, will face third seed Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals after the Serbian ace defeated former world No.1 Lleyton Hewitt, 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
The other two men’s quarterfinal matches will be between top seed Roger Federer and 12th seed Tomas Berdych while home bet Andy Murray faces France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Murray blitzed Sam Querrey of the United States, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4, while Tsonga turned down fellow Frenchman Julien Benneteau, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3, 6-1.
