Miguel Cotto snatches title from Yuri Foreman

Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto stopped previously undefeated Yuri Foreman in the 9th round to capture the junior middleweight title at the New York Yankees stadium.
Foreman was fighting a good fight until he slipped in the seventh-round and hurt his knee. Cotto made his move against the limping opponent when Foreman feel again in the same corner where he slipped the first time. Foreman survived the 7th round and in the 8th, Foreman’s corner threw in the towel to stop the fight but the fight was continued anyway since Foreman wants to go on and fight.
In the ninth-round, Cotto caught Foreman and landed a blow to the body and Foreman fell down and the referee stopped the fight. After the stoppage, Cotto led by scores of 79-73, 79-73, and 78-74.
With the win, Cotto improves to 35-2 with 28 KOs while Foreman falls to 28-1 with 8 KOs.
